Summer is here and the farm is thriving!

Summer has officially begun, and the rooftop farm is looking beautiful! Though most of the strawberries are gone, the past few weeks have brought a bountiful harvest of kale, snow peas, and garlic scapes. A garlic scape is the bud of the garlic flower. They are removed before the flower emerges and are a delicious substitute for garlic in many recipes. The scapes are removed before they flower to encourage bigger garlic bulbs!

Much of planting season is over, but sweet potatoes were recently planted, so look forward to a lovely harvest in early fall.

Current harvests include lettuce heads, salad mix, snow peas, kale, garlic scapes, herbs, green beans, and more. Have you ever seen a purple green bean? If not, come check it out during our summer hours! Keep an eye out for new blog posts and emails, and contact us with any questions you may have! Happy summer!
